English Mountain is proud to serve our nation’s veterans with our drug and alcohol addiction program. At EMR, we believe in whole-person healing that is based on the 12 Steps, and we have staff members who are specifically trained to address the unique needs of veterans through the PsychArmor certification program.
Throughout a 30, 60, or 90-day stay at our recovery center in the beautiful Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, veterans work alongside trained counselors to get to the root of their physical, emotional, and psychological needs as they address their alcohol or drug addiction. Because English Mountain also works with co-occurring disorders, we can treat the mental health issues that often accompany substance abuse issues, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder, all of which are common in veterans.
During orientation at EMR, veterans are paired with another veteran who acts as a mentor in our Battle Buddies program. Traditionally, we pair clients entering EMR with someone who has already completed part of the program and can provide guidance to new veterans in recovery.
EMR’s veteran-specific rehab includes a full spectrum of holistic programming options:
English Mountain’s Residential Treatment Program provides a safe, structured environment for Veterans and first responders who are struggling with a substance use disorder or mental health issue. Upon arrival, individuals will be evaluated and if detoxification is necessary, it will take place before they move to residential care. Clients reside at one of our peaceful, homelike facilities during treatment, receiving access to 24/7 care and support from a team of credentialed recovery professionals.
During English Mountain’s Residential Treatment Program, every day is structured to provide intensive intervention and to educate, encourage, and empower each resident’s movement into recovery. Each day is full and designed to optimize the time we have with our clients and set them up for success when they leave. Clients can expect some combination of the treatment modalities below:
With a focus on mind, body, and spirit, English Mountain’s Residential Treatment Program offers compassionate, quality care in an atmosphere conducive to growth. Residents may have access to nature walks, fishing, equine and animal-assisted therapies, exercise equipment, basketball, volleyball, and other recreational activities, as well as yoga, meditation, and other holistic therapies.
Addiction and mental health problems are family illnesses. When a loved one needs help, the entire family or support system is thrown into dysfunction. In the Tactical Recovery program, we know that family education, support, and involvement in the treatment process lead to better outcomes for our clients.
Our Family Support program is facilitated by a qualified counselor who has been trained to meet the needs of military and first responder families. We will help the family create realistic expectations for recovery through education and sharing in a safe, supportive environment. Education and discussion topics include codependency, boundaries, the 12 Steps, and self-care.
Family members learn how they can best support the client when they leave treatment and begin their continued long-term recovery. This is an educational and transformative experience for the client and the entire family system.
Before discharge, our counselors will establish continuing treatment in the veteran’s hometown. We also provide resources for housing, food assistance, and veteran networking.
Aftercare for veterans should be tailored to their individual needs and circumstances. It often involves a coordinated effort among various service providers, including the VA, community organizations, mental health professionals, and family members, to ensure that veterans receive comprehensive and ongoing support as they reintegrate into civilian life.
When there isn’t current availability at a VA facility, but a veteran needs immediate help, our Bridge Care program can be the answer. With proper authorization, veterans can start receiving care at our Tactical Recovery program locations until services can be secured at a VA facility. This bridge can support veterans when they need help the most, and start them on the road to recovery sooner.
Offered at all Tactical Recovery locations, Bridge Care offers:
CaredFor is our secure, online platform that allows our alumni to connect, engage, and support one another, while also staying in touch with Tactical Recovery. Inside CaredFor, alumni use a personalized dashboard that tracks sobriety time, provides articles and resource material, and provides support from recovery experts, including those at Tactical Recovery.
Use of the CaredFor app is free for alumni and can be accessed on most wireless devices. To get started, text “TRS” to “30678” or look for it in your app store.
Whether you are seeking help for yourself or a loved one who is a veteran, our all-inclusive residential facility in Tennessee is affordable and offers one of the industry’s highest recovery success rates. Since EMR is a member of the Community Care Network, VA benefits can be used to help cover the cost of treatment, and we accept many other forms of insurance.
